Karsten Temme Pivot Bio

Driven by his passionate belief in the power of science and the desire to create meaningful change in the world, Karsten Temme partnered with Alvin Tamsir to create Pivot Bio. An ag-tech startup headquartered in Berkeley, California. Pivot Bio is unlocking new ways to provide nitrogen and other key nutrients that crops need. Unlike traditional chemical-based fertilizers, their innovative approach uses naturally occuring microbes to help farmers achieve the same yield with fewer inputs. Based on Pivot Bio’s mission to help feed the world in a sustainable way, Karsten and his team have received funding from the National Science Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other forward-thinking investors.
